SiC Synchronous Converter

A highly efficient SiC synchronous converter for an innovative power self-consumption system for the optimal use of regenerative energy sources in the commercial and industrial sector with an output power of 25 kW is presented. The demonstrator serves as a link between a high-voltage lithium-ion battery unit and an inverter. With the use of SiC Mosfets and switching frequencies of 96 kHz a very high efficiency of 99% at a power density of 2.35 kW per liter could be achieved. By dividing the high-voltage battery input into three sub-units of 8.3 kW each, different battery technologies and capacities can be served. The demonstrator is the result of a development within the joint project "OptiStore".
