Bauhaus.MobilityLab Demonstrator

Fraunhofer IOSB-AST

Digitalisation and transformation processes are central challenges of our time. The Bauhaus.MobilityLab aims to actively shape the living future. The project is located in the innovation district Brühl in Erfurt and serves as a real-world laboratory and nucleus for conducting experiments. The Bauhaus.MobilityLab is funded to set up a lab infrastructure consisting of the living lab and the AI-based lab platform. Lab customers can use this lab infrastructure to test and further develop services and products under real conditions and with an optimised data basis. The underlying business model is based on the principle of ‘Lab-as-a-Service'.

The aim of the project is to develop an open and service-oriented IT-based lab platform as a scalable and transferable ecosystem for living labs. Based on the latest AI technologies, it allows the development of innovative products and services. Relevant actors can experience the future city in a user- and co-creation-based process of developing and testing innovations.

The Bauhaus.MobilityLab creates a lab platform that intelligently connects data and enables the development and testing of products and services. This project is technically challenging but offers great potential in terms of the ‚Lab-as-a-Service' approach. The lab platform is largely based on open source software, which means it can be transferred to other living labs.
